No Bananas on the Boat

from the album

Captain John put his life vest on
As he climbed aboard his schooner every day at dawn
The wind in his sail was his only fuel
And "no bananas on the boat" was his only rule

Captain John had a crew of ten
Able-bodied, bold, but superstitous men
Not a single hand among the group
Would dare bring a banana up aboard the sloop, because

Sailors of repute
All forsake this one fruit
So at sea they are banned
No bananas on the boat, leave them on dry land.

No hay bananas en el bote
No hay bananas en el bote
No hay bananas en el bote
No las pongas aquí

A banana trader made her way one day
From the Bahamas to St Thomas down to Dead Chest Cay
She had bananas loaded in the cargo tank
But she came on rocky waters and the boat just sank

Bananas on the boat today are still bad luck
If you eat one you will see the captain run amok
So leave your banana on the river bank
Unless you want to end your cruise with a walk from the plank!

Sailors of repute
All forsake this one fruit
So at sea they are banned
No bananas on the boat, leave them on dry land.

No hay bananas en el bote
No hay bananas en el bote
No hay bananas en el bote
No las pongas aquí
